The Department of the Interior, Public Administration and Justice of the Basque Government has signed an agreement with METAPOSTA, with the aim of using this Internet-based electronic mailbox and strongbox service to send payslips and other notifications to its civil servants. The agreement, which was signed this morning at the headquarters of the Basque Government in Bilbao, was initialled by the Regional Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Bernabé Unda, representing METAPOSTA, and the Regional Minister of the Interior, Public Administration and Justice, Idoia Mendia, in the presence of the vice president of METAPOSTA and director of Innovation and the Information Society of the Basque Government, Xabier Sabalza.

Sixty-seven thousand employees of the Basque Public Administration will have the chance to receive work-related notifications (basically, their payslips) in their personal METAPOSTA mailbox. At present, the following senders issue notifications through METAPOSTA: Kutxabank, Caja Laboral, Iberdrola, Euskaltel and the Basque water companies. Moreover, throughout this year, a number of other senders including Movistar, Naturgas and public entities such as Osakidetza and Lanbide will join METAPOSTA.

The Education, Universities and Research Department is also in the process of joining the METAPOSTA service in order to be able to send academic records to Secondary Education and Vocational Training students at the end of the academic year. Likewise, through the Kultura Klub initiative, the Culture Department sends notifications via METAPOSTA, and the Basque Job Service, Lanbide, will use this secure, confidential and legal electronic communication service to send notifications to unemployed persons.

IT Txartela

Through SPRI, the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Department already sends all its internal communications and all the notifications it issues to members of the public and companies via METAPOSTA. It also manages the IT Txartela certificates sent via this electronic correspondence service. It is worth pointing out in this regard that members of the public can now receive via METAPOSTA information on the official IT know-how certificates issued to them in the past.

METAPOSTA began its Internet-based electronic mailbox and strongbox service on February 16 2011. Now, about 30,000 people use this service.
